Programs

BIPOC Youth Journalism Training Fellowship

Program overview

JHR will undertake a 5-month work placement program focused on addressing the lack of BIPOC representation in Canadian media outlets. The people producing news in Canada are overwhelmingly white and do not represent the diverse and cultures, perspectives, and experiences in this country.

Working with Canadian news media organizations, the program will offer training and mentorship to youth from equity-deserving communities. As a result of this program, participants will be better prepared to pursue a career in journalism, and voices which have historically been underrepresented will be made more visible to advertisers, creators and audiences.
