Since February 2016, JHR has been implementing the project “Strengthening Media in South Sudan” for the purpose of enhancing the public accountability in the country on human rights issues.

The project was developed based on JHR experience in the country since 2013 and throughout the eruption of the armed conflict and as a response to the needs of key players to development and the peace process.

Working with media outlets, media organizations, civil society organizations, international organizations, and government representatives the project aims at enhancing the role of these key players through:

Capacity building for a. journalists, editors and media managers on covering the issues of human rights, especially the rights of women and girls. b. civil society organizations on collaborating with media and improving their skills on structuring media communication strategies; c. and government representatives on communicating with the media and on human rights issues

Networking media managers in periodic meetings to exchange experiences and to provide support to each other in facing challenges from within and outside the sector which also forms the project implementation and progress

Sud-Soudan

  1. au renforcement des capacités des journalistes, des rédacteurs et des gestionnaires des média à couvrir les questions des droits humains, en particulier les droits des femmes et des filles;
  2. au renforcement des capacités des organisations de la société civile à collaborer avec les médias et à améliorer leurs compétences à structurer des stratégies de communication médiatique;
