At a community event organized by JHR in Bamako, 127 women and girls participated in a dialogue about the necessity of COVID-19 vaccinations, led by a local women-focused CSO and Dr Ibrahim Diall, a doctor with the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene’s Immunization Section.
After an hour-long discussion with the experts, as many as 34 community participants, including many breastfeeding women, received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines. The Community Health Center (CSCom de Doumanzana) had sent two COVID-19 vaccination teams for the purpose and revealed that they reached more people through this activity than a full day of regular activities.
After the event, the CSCom Director invited the participating CSO’s president to a meeting to discuss collaboration and training session for female leaders.
