Strengthening Media in Canada through a Rights-Based Solutions Approach

Strengthening Media in Canada through a Rights-Based Solutions Approach is JHR’s first national Canadian program.

This program is being delivered in partnership with the Solutions Journalism Network with funding from the McConnell Family Foundation. The program brings together solutions journalism training, which is evidence-based reporting about responses to social problems, and human rights journalism training to Canadian journalists for the first time.

The program will introduce and help sustain solutions journalism and human rights journalism approaches in Canada, with the end goals of creating more public support for and engagement with journalism, increased revenue for endangered news organizations, increased trust in Canadian institutions and increased interpersonal trust.
